Favorite Things: Rachel Edition! {January 2020}

Please be sure to let me know if you have a specific question you'd like me to

address in one of the upcoming Favorite Things posts!

Welcome to the Rachel edition of Favorite Things! January is Rachel's birth month so I thought it would be fun to let her choose the items this month!

FAVORITE THINGS {January 2020}

Book of the Month

Mommy: Rachel, what is your all time favorite book?

Rachel: Can I do three favorites?

Mommy: Haha! Sure.

Rachel: OK. These aren't going to be in order.

Mommy: Ok. Go ahead =)

Rachel: The Penderwick Series. All of the books!

Mommy: OK. What's next?

Mommy: Good one. What else?

Rachel: All of the Minecraft Handbooks! They are all really helpful! I can use the Construction Handbook for ideas for really cool structures. I'm building a really cool house right now and awesome roller coasters! I also kind of like battles in Minecraft, so that's why I really like the Combat Handbook. It's SO helpful with ideas on weapons and defeating enemies.

ALBUM OF THE MONTH

what is your favorite cd?

I have two.

OK, which ones?

The Soundtracks from The Mask of Zorro and The Greatest Showman! I really like songs that just have a really good beat to them. And I love that some of the songs sound like horses trotting or going into battle.

(By the way, I put these songs on my super old ipod and gave them to her for her birthday last year. This allowed me to remove a few of the songs from the albums I didn't want her to listen to! #momtip)

Product of the Month

Mommy: If you could recommend any of your toys or items to another kid, what would you recommend?

Legos. And my Lego Ideas Book.

And figurines. Like my horses and wolves.

Homeschool Tips

#1

Create a routine rather than a schedule. Don't stress about when things happen.

#2

Plan your day around YOU. Don't try to do things like other moms, or the way a public school would. Work this into your life, not the other way around.

#3

Have FUN! You can learn a lot from being outside, cooking with your kids, or making a messy art project. Books are amazing, but they can be boring for young kids sometimes. Try to liven things up as much as possible.
