Welcome to the FALL edition of Favorite Things!

This is my month, guys. My birthday and anniversary are both in October, as well as Josiah's birthday! This month I'll be sharing some of my favorite fall products, plus a few Josiah items as well!

FAVORITE THINGS {October 2019}

Book of the Month

I'm not even going to tell you about this book. I don't want to ruin even the tiniest bit for you. Just know that it's amazing and in my top five favorites for fiction.

READ IT READ IT READ IT!

ALBUM OF THE MONTH

This is one of my absolute FAVORITE albums ever.

I occasionally play the offertory at our church. I play by ear, so I have to listen to a song many times before playing it. More than half of the songs I play came from this album. I listen to it often when cleaning the house, or in the car while running errands. It never gets old. It's so unique and calming. I just love it!

Products of the Month

One of my favorite things about fall is the scents.

I actually have a really terrible sense of smell. I can't smell most things. It has to be really strong for me to pick up on it for the most part. But there are two exceptions. Coffee and popcorn. Coffee, probably because I worked in multiple coffee shops as a teenager and then managed one as a newly wed (and I brew it every single morning in my home). And popcorn because it was a staple in our home growing up =) I don't even eat popcorn typically, but the smell still makes me think of my mom. So I enjoy it =)

There is ONE popcorn I'll never turn down though. THIS one is the absolute BEST!

But one of my favorite things about fall is burning candles. All day. Every day.

Just kidding. I'd LOVE to have candles going all day, but with the young kids I babysit (and the fact that I'm just scatterbrained) I'm not ready to have constant open flames just yet.

This is one of the reasons I love my diffuser.

And here are some of my favorite oils for fall. No, they are not Young Living or DoTerra or anything fancy. Just plain, Amazon oils.

Someday, I'd love to use Young Living. But until then, these will do just fine =)

And one for Josiah.

It's his birthday month, so I wanted to add a few of his favorite things as well =) He will be turning three on the 3rd of this month. Hard to believe! Here are a few of his current favorite play things:

Army men.

Because every little boy should command his own Army.

Music.

The boy LOVES music. He sings all day and loves to play his instruments. His favorites at the moment are:

Toy guitar. He can't say "guitar" so he calls it a "Down Down". It took me forever to realize where he got that name, but I finally discovered that "down down" is the sound my older kids made when they play the air guitar. =)

The "Ooh Ooh." Or Harmonica. The whole family gets SUPER excited when he pulls this one out.

(Can you tell I'm being sarcastic?)

My Frank Sinatra record.

He's not typically picky about where his music comes from. He will sing, play the piano, drum on the table, etc. He loves CDs and music videos and the radio in the car. But one thing he has been asking for a lot lately is this record. I put it on for him and he just sways and spins around the room. I'm soaking it up <3

That's it for October's Favorite Things. I'd love to hear YOUR favorite fall items!

Homeschool Tips

#1

Create a routine rather than a schedule. Don't stress about when things happen.

#2

Plan your day around YOU. Don't try to do things like other moms, or the way a public school would. Work this into your life, not the other way around.

#3

Have FUN! You can learn a lot from being outside, cooking with your kids, or making a messy art project. Books are amazing, but they can be boring for young kids sometimes. Try to liven things up as much as possible.
