FAVORITE THINGS {May 2019}

Book of the Month

This is the book that made me actually fight for my lifelong dream of becoming a writer. This is, in my opinion, one of the better children's books out there. Ever.

I. Love. This. Book.

My kiddos love this book.

All of my kids have special stuffed animals, and I think they were imagining their own "buds" living out this story. It struck a very special place in their hearts.

Read it.

ALBUM OF THE MONTH

MOMS, please listen to this album!

This one is perfect for the mother's heart. Much needed words of encouragement. Words of peace. Melodies that just soothe the soul.

I listen to this one on repeat every single month. Whether I'm sad, happy, discouraged or at peace, this is my go-to album.

Product of the Month

Scrabble tiles!

Good for more than just scrabble!

We use these for spelling lessons. The kids have a blast searching through the pile of letters to create their words, and it makes it far more interesting than just writing the words on paper.

We have races to see who can make the most words from the pile in 60 seconds. My 4-year-old uses these to practice sounds, and to "build" her name.

We can easily add "es" or "ed" or "ing" to words, and the visual has been fantastic for two of my learners!

Also, you can play Scrabble! =)

Homeschool Tips

#1

Create a routine rather than a schedule. Don't stress about when things happen.

#2

Plan your day around YOU. Don't try to do things like other moms, or the way a public school would. Work this into your life, not the other way around.

#3

Have FUN! You can learn a lot from being outside, cooking with your kids, or making a messy art project. Books are amazing, but they can be boring for young kids sometimes. Try to liven things up as much as possible.
